The Most Common Questions We Are Asked
How do you charge for our handyman services?
That’s a great question, and the answer depends on your needs. We offer two types of services. The first option is hourly, where we charge $75 per hour with a minimum of 1 hour. Let me explain how this works: if your project takes only 30 minutes to complete, the minimum charge will still be for 1 hour. This rate typically compensates us for our travel time and gas and sometimes includes both the handyman, Travis, and his assistant, so you’re getting two professionals for the price of one, which usually helps things run more smoothly.
The second option is a flat rate for the entire job. This can be especially useful if you have a long list of tasks or more detailed work that would be better suited to a bulk price. We always strive to offer you the best possible price, keeping your budget in mind and looking for ways to save you money.

What is your estimate process for handyman services?
Depending on the project, we may schedule an appointment to assess the work needed. In some cases, photos and a phone conversation provide enough information for us to offer an estimate.
Please provide as much detail as possible when describing your project.
Once we have all the necessary details, we can give you a quote over the phone for smaller projects. For larger projects, we’ll prepare a detailed written estimate and send it to you via email for your approval.
Note: Some estimates may include a requirement for a deposit before we begin the work. This is typically to ensure that all necessary materials are purchased in advance. By accepting the estimate, you also agree to the non-refundable deposit, if one is required.
How do you set your arrival time for most handyman jobs?
We typically provide a 2-hour window for our arrival to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances that may arise. This allows us to ensure we can still make it to your appointment on time.
Do you service residential and commercial handyman projects?
The short answer is yes, we service both residential and commercial. Whether we can take on your project depends on its size and scope. Please contact us for more details
Are you licensed and/or insured?
In California, handymen are not required to have a license to perform projects. As a jack-of-all-trades with expertise in various areas, a specific licensing test for handymen has not yet been established by the state. However, we are a licensed specialty contractor (CSLB#1089122) and we do carry business and liability insurance for our other areas of our business.
Do you hire outside help for your jobs?
Travis, the owner of Artisan Design Concepts, often works alongside his business partner when needed. If an additional person is brought onto a project, it’s due to their specific expertise in a particular area. In such cases, you’ll be notified in advance and provided with the reasons why outside help is necessary.
