Indio Open-air market is present in Indio, California. It is located at the Riverside County Fairgrounds. This market is also known as farmer’s market, flea market and swap meet, all-in-one. This is the second-largest market in the area of Maclin’s Open Air Markets. It was recorded that around 8000 individuals recently have visited the market. Indio Open-air – The Maclin’s Flea. This makes it one of the largest markets present in South California. The market was located first at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino which has been in operation since 1995. It is a place with the widest range of shoppers and vendors in one place. The place is a nighttime open shopping center.

  • A Faint View

The marketplace is completely filled with colors of all kinds. It gives it a wonderful night market beauty. A faint fragrance of roasted peanuts hangs in the air and the market opens up at sunset around 4 pm. The market opens at 4 pm but the vendors do not completely set up their stalls till around 6 pm or 7 pm. There is free parking available for all the shoppers and the vendors. The shoppers have to pay only 50 cents for entrance. It is a place for socialization, for friends to have fun together.

  • The hustle for the right space!

The space allotted for the vendors is 25’ by 25’ in which they can set up their stalls. Sellers who wish to pay ahead of time every month for a consistent space should pay before the last Wednesday or Saturday of every month. Since the market is a profitable place to set up a stall, sellers who fail to prepay for a place of their own choice are given spaces by the site administrator on occasion day.

  • Some regulations to keep things under control

Any illegal products or weapons are not allowed for sale. Food prepared beforehand is also not allowed. The sellers are provided with the electricity of 500 watts. The sellers who exceed this amount will pay a fine and may lose the chance of using it again. The California law has made it necessary that every vendor selling his own products is required to have a license for reselling. Maclin Markets also require a copy of their license if the vendor has sold the product multiple times in the market. The local State Board of Equalization needs to be contacted for obtaining this permit.

A wide variety of stalls are seen in the marketplace. Everything and anything which a person expects and wants is present in the market. A lot of sellers have stalls with second-hand products showing the area of the original flea market. They sell things such as housewares, computers, appliances, clothes, etc. But stalls with a wide range of new products are also present. You can buy farm-fresh products from the market like fresh fruits and vegetables, corn, etc. One can also buy food stalls for example tortillas, snacks, etc. People often lose track of time while shopping as they get fascinated by the different varieties present at the market.
