At Artisan Design Concepts, we love bringing bold design ideas to life, and this project for The Vintage Coffee House in La Quinta, CA is one of our favorites. The owner wanted something unique and eye-catching that would tie into the cozy, vintage vibe of their café. We created a hammered bronze and copper patina finish using EpoxyKote, and the results were absolutely stunning.
Project Vision
Coffee shops are gathering places full of warmth and character. To match that atmosphere, the design called for a rich, metallic patina that feels both timeless and artistic. Bronze and copper tones bring in depth and elegance, while the hammered effect adds texture and movement—making each countertop feel like a true work of art.
The Pour Process
We began with our custom fabrication to ensure a perfect surface. From there, we mixed and poured EpoxyKote by Savage Patriot Polymers, layering metallic pigments in shades of copper and bronze. By working with heat and blending techniques, we achieved that hammered metal look, full of dimension.
Once the color coat cured, we added a clear flood coat to enhance depth and give the metallics that glass-like finish. For maximum durability, especially in a busy commercial setting, we applied Fortified Top Coat (FTC) in matte. This professional-grade topcoat creates a smooth, scratch-resistant finish that can stand up to daily use in a high-traffic coffee shop environment.
The installation
After curing, the countertops were carefully transported and installed inside the café. Installation is always one of the most exciting parts—seeing the design come to life in its intended space. The bronze and copper tones picked up the warm lighting in the coffee house beautifully, while the Matte FTC topcoat provided a soft sheen that blended seamlessly with the vintage décor.
