Full House Refresh in La Quinta Cove: From Rental to Ready-to-Sell

How Artisan Design Concepts’ Handyman Division Transformed a Long-Term Rental into a Market-Ready Home

The Challenge: Getting a Rental Ready to Sell

In the heart of La Quinta Cove, a homeowner was finally ready to sell their property after years of renting it out long-term. But before hitting the market, the home needed a major refresh. Between worn flooring, outdated fixtures, and neglected finishes, it was clear this wasn’t just a quick clean-up — it was a full house handyman project.

That’s where our Artisan Handyman Division stepped in to give the home the TLC it deserved and prepare it for a successful sale.

Full Remodel

Step 1: Flooring & Baseboard Demo

The first step was tackling the worn flooring. Our team handled the demolition, removal, and dumping of existing plank flooring, carpet, and baseboards. Clearing these surfaces created a fresh starting point for new finishes.

Step 2: Junk Removal

The backyard had collected unwanted items over the years. We performed a full junk removal and haul away, restoring outdoor space and improving curb appeal — always a must when selling a home.

Step 3: Popcorn Ceiling Removal

Nothing dates a house faster than popcorn ceilings. We carefully removed the textured finish, leaving smooth ceilings that instantly modernized the interior.

Step 4: Plumbing & Fixture Upgrades

A series of plumbing updates gave the home refreshed functionality:

  • New toilets installed throughout the home.
  • Bathroom accessories such as towel and toilet paper holders and shower curtain rods installed.
  • Bath and shower faucets and fixtures replaced with updated, customer-selected styles.
  • Faucet bib replacement outside.
  • Kitchen faucet (customer-supplied) and new garbage disposal installed.

Step 5: Electrical & Lighting

Electrical updates are critical for safety, aesthetics, and resale value. We:

  • Replaced 50 outlets, switches, and covers so everything matched and looked new.
  • Adjusted a ceiling vent for better airflow.
  • Installed new overhead light fixture covers in the kitchen and bathrooms, along with matching bulbs for consistent lighting.
  • Removed an old ceiling fan and installed the new customer-supplied fan.

Step 6: Miscellaneous Repairs

Other key improvements included:

  • Replacing the vented water heater door for safety and appearance.
  • Performing drywall repair in the garage to create a cleaner, finished look.

Step 7: Window Coverings

To finish the interior, we installed 1″ horizontal blinds throughout the home, plus vertical blinds at the slider, master bedroom, and living room. This gave the home a uniform, updated appearance while boosting privacy and comfort.

Step 8: Baseboard Installation

After new flooring and fresh paint were completed by separate vendors, our team returned to install brand-new 4″ baseboards, tying the entire look together with clean, modern lines.

Step 9: Exterior Finishing Touches

To complete the refresh, we pressure washed the driveway to remove stains and buildup, improving curb appeal and first impressions for potential buyers.

The Result: Market-Ready & Modern

In just a short time, this La Quinta Cove home went from tired rental to move-in ready, with every detail refreshed. By addressing both the big-ticket items (flooring demo, popcorn ceiling removal, baseboards) and the small finishing touches (outlets, blinds, fixture covers), the home was prepared to attract buyers and sell quickly.

At Artisan Design Concepts Handyman Division, we specialize in exactly this kind of full-home refresh. Whether you’re preparing to sell, updating a rental, or just giving your home a facelift, our team has the experience to handle it all.
